

SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY
A dynamic senior leader and CEO in the international human rights/humanitarian/social change movement. 25 years of advocacy, campaigns and senior leadership experience with NGOs, the UN, private sector and government. An expert in building collaboration and promoting social change for disadvantaged people.
Experience includes: complex global organisational leadership and vision; strategic planning, high-level networking and relationship building; fundraising over A$8million/year; complex global financial oversight and accountability; board relations and management; creating positive and inclusive organisational culture.
As CEO of Crisis Action in New York, Andrew provided world-class leadership to a global team of 50+ people in 11 countries and spearheaded some of the organisation’s signature advocacy successes, as well transforming the organisation to be truly global.
Prior to Crisis Action, Andrew worked at Human Rights First, where he coordinated UN advocacy, managed the Human Rights Defenders Program and led Latin American work. Previously, Andrew was a lawyer in Australia representing disadvantaged clients and refugees and spearheading major law reform projects. He has also worked with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Ecuador, the UN Regional Commission in Thailand. He was Australia's first Youth Representative to the UN. Andrew holds honours degrees in politics and law from the University of Melbourne and a Masters of Laws from New York University School of Law. He is a John Monash Scholar.
