Paul Granville on Researching Local History
In a complementary event to Margaret Cook last month, in September we are lucky to have Paul Granville address us on Documenting Local History.
Paul is a retired engineer with an MBA and is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers (Australia). For the last 12 years, however, he has been researching inner city Brisbane and his home suburb of Highgate Hill. In that time he has produced an astonishing 100 blog posts documenting his findings. These can be found here.
How has Paul done this? What tools has he used? What are some of his more interesting findings? And in a wider sense how can someone else begin a similar project. What are the implications for documenting our individual areas?
In addition to his history work Paul is a keen musician and plays with a number of community groups. He is also an avid walker who has completed a number of pilgrimage walks of up to 1,200km.
Come for an intriguing and interesting evening on September 3rd
