SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY
John Humphreys is the Chief Economist at the Australian Taxpayers' Alliance and Director of the Australian Economic Education Foundation. He received his PhD from the University of Queensland and spent almost ten years lecturing economics in Australia and Asia. John has also worked as an analyst for the Australian Treasury, research fellow at the Centre for Independent Studies, and as a consultant on projects for the World Bank, ASEAN, governments, banks, and industry groups.
From 2014-17 John ran the research centre at the University of Management and Economics in Cambodia, where he was also the founder of an education charity that helped fund rural students into university. For these efforts he was awarded a knighthood in the Royal Order of Monisaraphon. He lives just north of Brisbane with his wonderful wife, three awesome kids, and an alpaca.
