Question for Panellists: Feasibility of Nuclear in US v Australia

In the US a new nuclear reactor was commissioned for the first time in a long while. Rod's point is that nuclear energy doesn't make economic sense in Australia with its characteristics of peak demand and small manufacturing base. What are the characteristics of the US versus Australia which makes nuclear energy an economically viable solution in the US but not in Australia (or, alternatively, is the US making an economic mistake)?
