NEXT PUBLIC EVENT
BIG DIALOGUE: CLIMATE CHANGE
WHAT CAN WE AGREE ON?
6:00PM FOR 7-8:30PM
THE TIVOLI, FORTITUDE VALLEY BRISBANE
In collaboration with the Queensland Academy of Arts and Sciences
Moderator: Hon John Anderson, AO FTSE
Host, "Conversations with John Anderson" YouTube channel and podcast
There is much that people will never agree on about climate change, like what to even call it, but what might we agree on, in practical terms? Is there anything that alarmists and denialists could agree about? If not, what about mainstream climate change activists and sceptics?
Some activists share concerns about the impact on economic development and equity and some sceptics are concerned that there are unknown climate risks to be managed. There might be much to agree about, but what?
What We Do.
Conduct public events on issues of national or global importance or interest, in the Big Dialogue format, as well as bespoke private events, to demonstrate what better discussions look like.
Support other organisations to conduct better discussions, with a wide range of services and activities which range from full co-production of a major event, to specific help with curation, event management, promotion, technology, etc.
Publish the Queensland Talks calendar, which aggregates ideas-based event information in the region to make it more publicly accessible, expanding audiences and deepening civic culture.
BETTER DISCUSSIONS WITH
Queensland Talks is an aggregation of better talks and discussion events produced by many other organisations. These events are:
- generally ideas-based
- particularly but not necessarily those which aim at genuine dialogue
- generally but not necessarily in Southeast Queensland
- mostly but not always real, in-person events.
Queensland Talks is a community service from The Brisbane Dialogues. Inclusion does not mean endorsement!
