Our existing energy ecosystem is built on the premise of storing energy in its latent form (coal stockpile, oil tank, water dam) before conversion to electricity for use at the time of demand. Is it realistic to think we can transform that to generate electricity whenever the new fuel (wind and solar) is available and then store that electricity in another form until needed?
